What is Ultimate?

Ultimate Frisbee (or simply "Ultimate") is a team sport played with 7-a-side (outdoor) or 5-a-side (beach & indoor) teams on a pitch containing two endzones and a play field.

Players are not permitted to run with the disc, but are allowed to pivot (as in basketball) to help make a pass to a teammate. Teams score by passing the disc into the endzone to one of their fellow players.

Ultimate is played by men and women either in Open, Mixed or Women's divisions.

What's New?

  • Sunburn Announced

Sunburn has been confirmed for the 28th and 29th June. In addition, we are waiting to find out if our bid for Beach Nationals has been successful.
  • Bournemouth Heat are going to Nationals!

The University team have qualified for Nationals in Manchester, after beating Swansea to come 6th in the Region. The last time Bournemouth competed at outdoor nationals was in 2011, so it's great to see the team back where they belong in the top flight of University clubs.

Bournemouth Heat

Heat are the club team for Bournemouth University. We have close ties with the Arts University Bournemouth, club team The Bournemouth Ultimatum, and Poole's team In The Zone. Most training sessions are run jointly, and anyone is welcome to come along to any session.

Training outdoors is twice a week at Slades Farm, Bournemouth...

Wednesdays 1pm - 3pm
Sundays 1pm - 3pm

In addition, indoor Saturday sessions are run during term time on the Bournemouth University campus. To keep up to date with training sessions, join the Bournemouth Heat Facebook page.

The Bournemouth Ultimatum

In addition to University tournaments, we enter club tournaments as part of 'TBU'. All non-University students are welcome to train and play with us at the above sessions. We encourage beginners to come along and give it a try, and provide a welcoming environment for all.
